For Little Mermaid, I was Props Lead. I delegated tasks and managed my crew to create a cohesive look for the show. However, I was still able to help with many different props and set dressing pieces. I directed my crew in the creation of many different seafoods for the kitchen and dining room scenes along with helping them put up the curtains and different wall hangings. I also directed the construction of Ursula’s cauldron and monitored the dry ice usage during the shows.
Bull Durham: The Musical
For inaugural production of Bull Durham: The Musical (produced by Theatre Raleigh), I assisted props designer Tim Domack with load in and set dressing. I specifically worked on outfitting the lockers with specific items pertaining to each character. I also helped decorate the wall of the house with baseball memorabilia.
Gypsy
At Southeastern Summer Theatre Intensive, my area of focus was props. I spent my time working with professional prop designers, creating details for the set of Gypsy. We built a giant, light-up “ROSE” sign to be flown in during the final number. Wiring it was a collaborative effort among the Tech students. I also sculpted a parrotlet as part of the set dressing for the show.
The “ROSE” sign lit up and sparkled during the closing number, creating a really dramatic ending to the show. (see video)
Six: The Musical (High School Edition)
For Six: The Musical (High School Edition), I was in charge of designing and leading the construction of a throne for Catherine of Aragon. I was inspired by her costume design of gold and black to create this traditional shaped throne. I also added a nod to her faith with the globus cruciger at the top of the throne.
Mamma Mia
For the flower boxes, I lined the bottom of them with styrofoam. then i cut flowers to fit inside them and stapled some vines to the side. Because of the shutters, I had to go in and lower the boxes by 2 1/2 inches.
To make these prop cucumber sandwiches, I cut upholstery foam into triangles and painted the edges brown to resemble bread. I cut floral foam into circles and painted the edges dark green for the cucumbers. For the spread, I mixed off white paint with Durham Rock hard. I assembled the sandwiches with hot glue.
Murder Mystery Dinner Theater
I was also the props lead for this show, so I served as both Props designer and props master. I also assisted with set dressing.
For the centerpieces, I wanted to the coins and fake money to seem like they were bursting out of the glass. I used floral wire to give a flying effect for the coins, and I used modge podge to glue fake money to the inside.
For this fake phone, I used a phone receiver and two pieces of wood for the base. I did my best to color match the paint to the receiver and used hot glue to make the buttons
