To create a realistic look for the tree bark, I used carpet padding. I carved out channels to mimic pine bark, and painted it using different shades of brown and green to capture the shading you find on real trees.
For the Ionic style Greek columns, I glued small wood slats to the surface for the fillets, and used joint compound to create the curve of the flutes. I painted it using a faux marble technique.
For the bricks, I used a red/brown scumble technique. I splatter painted white and black to create texture, and did a black was over a few to create depth. I then painted the mortar and the shadows between the bricks.
